Recover failed payments automatically

A declined card is usually a member who still wants to be here and has not noticed. Tell them the same day so they can fix it.

Skooly One: a payment-failed flow

  1. Click the Skooly One icon in Chrome's toolbar (install it from skoo.ly/one and click Connect my community first if you have not). Click DMs in the bottom bar, then + New (or New DM). Under When pick Someone’s payment fails, type a Name and click Create.
  2. Edit the starter. It already says what happened and points them to Settings > Membership in Skool to update their card.
  3. Click + Add a step for a Wait, then + Add a step for one reminder Send a DM. Click Save steps and switch it to ● On.
  4. Open Home. Once there is money at risk or recovered, a Payments recovered card shows the dollars recovered and how many members paid again.
You end up with: Every failed card usually gets a plain heads-up within about 10 minutes, and you can see what the flow recovered.

Watch out

  • One home per trigger. A payment-failed flow in both Skooly One and the portal sends the member two DMs.
  • Skooly One cannot drop a billing link into the message. #name# is its only merge tag, which is why the starter names the path in Skool's settings instead.
  • The portal has no recovered-payments figure. On Premium and VIP, use the Community Hub Ledger: the Billing chip for Declined lines and the Tier chip for Resubscribed lines.
  • Skooly One's recovered number only counts members the flow actually DM'd who then paid again. Other cards that recovered on their own are left out.
